Common Questions From Our Clients

Got Questions? We’ve Got Answers!

Do you do piercings?

No we don't currently do piercings as we don't have a professional piercer on the team and we also don't have any of the supplies to preform this procedure.

I am under 18. Can one of my parents sign a consent form for me?

We unfortunately do not tattoo under 18's. It's too much of a risk for our small business.
From my own experience and talking to other artists in the industry - All first tattoos when done under the age of 18 end up getting removed or covered up late on in life.
Please be patient and hopefully we will see you on your 18th birthday.

Can you tattoo over my scars?

Yes we can!

We can tattoo over 90% of scars!

If they were deep than they do need to be at least a few years old.

It is so meaningful to us when we are chosen to cover up scars, we understand that covering some scars is a massive confidence boost and can change some peoples lives so we will always do our best to cover all scars for you.

Keloid scars are one of the only types of scaring that we may not be able to cover.
You are more than welcome to come in and show us your scars if they are quite extensive. We will you know if we can still do your tattoo or if it just isn't something we are capable of.

Can I get a tattoo when I'm pregnant or breast feeding?

Unfortunately we cannot tattoo you if you are pregnant or breast feeding.
It is a rule in our insurance policy.

On the very unlikely chance that you get an infection or anything else than we have not only put you at risk but your baby at risk also.
Please wait until after you have stopped breast feeding so we can make sure everyone is safe.

Will I have to pay a deposit?

Yes you will need to pay a $100 - $300 deposit depending on how big your tattoo is.

Deposits ensure that our artists get paid even if you cancel your appointment.
This is to pay for all the time spent talking through the design, the hours of drawing time and also time spent wasted on a day where they could have been tattooing someone else.

How do I cancel/postpone my tattoo appointment?

You will need to message your tattooist that you are booking in with and let them know.

If you cancel or postpone within 5-7 days of your appointment then your deposit will be given to the artist to pay for the time they have spent on you.
If you give us enough notice then you will be able to get a refund on your deposit or post pone the appointment without any fees.

I want a tattoo but I’m on a limited budget. How do you determine pricing?

We unfortunately do not offer any after pay services or pay later deals.
You can however purchase gift cards and save them up to use them all at once for one tattoo.

Do you also tattoo in colour?

Yes we do!
Zoe (@kowai_girl_tattoo) is our colour artist. She specialises in water colour and other major colour works.
Jaz (@jaz_adele_ink) mostly sticks to black and grey pieces only. She will however do one colour accents through some of her pieces upon request (for example: black, grey and green).

Do you sell all the aftercare products I’ll need?

Yes we do!
We sell Dr Pickles tattoo balm for big tattoos or hustle butter for smaller tattoos.
Both of these brands have a great reputation and use natural products.

What happens if I'm Sunburnt/Bruised where I want to get my tattoo?

It is never a good idea to get tattooed over a sunburn and definitely a no go on getting tattooed over bruises.
One of the big reasons why we don't tattoo over bruises is that the ink can run under the skin into where the bruise is trying to heal. Please let us know prior to the day if you have suddenly got bruised or sunburnt :)

I have moles and freckles where I want my tattoo. Is this an issue?

Great question!
We don't actually tattoo through moles for many reasons. One major reasons is that tattooing over a mole can cause it to become cancerous.

Moles also should be checked by your doctor so we wouldn't want to go changing the colour of them and confusing your skin results.

We will tattoo around your moles or simply stop a line before the mole and continue it after (this looks better than tattooing over the mole in my opinion).

Freckles on the other hand are not as hectic.

Some of the bigger and darker freckles we will still tattoo around instead of straight over the top. The lighter normal freckles are completely fine!

What clothing should I wear?

Please wear loose comfortable clothing that we can easily pull away from the site we are tattooing.

Just a loose over sized T shirt is perfect when you are getting a sternum or rib tattoo.
A dress or very stretchy pants are brilliant for thigh tattoos and hip tattoos.

Don't wear your favourite clothes or white as sometimes we can't help but get ink on them.

How can I best prepare for a tattoo appointment?

It is very important to eat a good meal before any tattoo. Your body will need this to get through your session. You are more than welcome to also bring little snacks and fizzy drink.

Moisturising the tattoo site for a few days before your tattoo appointment is very helpful for your tattooist as it will make your skin very nice to tattoo.

We will need to shave the tattoo site before we start tattooing. It is always appreciated when clients do this for us before coming in.

Lastly, please come to your appointment 10 minutes early! We love that!

Do tattoos hurt?

Very popular question!
Everyone has different pain thresholds so I urge you not to listen to your friends about their pain experience as it will not be the same for you.

It is always wise to book in for a very small tattoo for your first tattoo. This will give you a good taste of the feeling and put all nerves to bed!

95% of first timers get their first line and say "Oh.... it's not that bad at all!".

Can I call the studio?

We don't have a studio phone as we are tattooing all day and wont be able to pick up.
There's also not much we can do over the phone. All quotes can either be worked out yourself using the price guide or we would need to see a photo.
This is the same for any other question you have.

Please see menu tab at top right for all information you seek.
